  1. Tracking List Backup During Installation

  3. The Password Tracker Deluxe setup procedure
  4. automatically backs up all of your Tracking List files that
  5. are stored in the "Password Tracker Deluxe\Program"
  6. folder. The backup files are copied to the "Password
  7. Tracker Deluxe\Backup" folder.

  9. If your Tracking List files are not stored in the default
  10. location of the "Password Tracker Deluxe\Program" folder,
  11. it is recommended that you backup the files yourself before
  12. continuing with the installation.

  15. Tracking List File Encryption
  16.  
  17. Starting with Password Tracker Deluxe 3.45, the default
  18. file encryption does not use the Windows built-in file
  19. cryptography algorithms. If you would like to increase the
  20. security of your Tracking Lists, you can turn on the
  21. Windows encryption to store your Tracking Lists by using
  22. the Preferences command on the View menu.

  24. Before turning on the use of Windows encryption, we
  25. recommend that all your Tracking Lists be backed up. You
  26. can backup the current Tracking List by using the Backup
  27. command on the File menu.

  29. One reason to not use the Windows encryption is if you
  30. share a Tracking List file on two or more computers and
  31. one of the computers is not setup to enable Windows
  32. encryption.

  34. In order to use the Windows cryptography algorithms,
  35. one of the following computer setups is needed:
  36. Windows 95 B (OSR 2), Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 or
  37. above, or Internet Explorer 3 or above. To see if the
  38. Windows encryption is enabled, use the Preferences
  39. command on the View menu.

  44. Since your passwords are very important, it is a good idea
  45. to regularly backup your Tracking List.  A backup ensures
  46. that you have a copy of your passwords in case your
  47. Tracking List file is ever erased or damaged.

  49. In order to be able to recover your Tracking List in case of
  50. a system crash, the Windows encryption algorithms will not
  51. be used for the backup files. The standard encryption
  52. algorithms will be used instead.

  54. Please be sure to store all backup diskettes in a secure
  55. location.
